This has the potential to be a very fun star party. Rose Hill Farm has been around since the 18th century. A "u pick it" business model, but they have a stunning hill-top location and a frequent events program (of which this will be their first star party).

Bortle 4.6. Fabulous views in all directions. The site itself should be quite dark, November 8 will be the night of the new moon, the darkest evening of the month. The darker the skies, the brighter the stars!

Some of the most exciting deep sky objects of the year will be visible including the Great Andromeda Galaxy (M31); the beautiful double cluster in Perseus (C14); the mysterious Elephant's Trunk Nebula; and the stunning ringed-planet, Saturn.

Near the taproom, astronomers will set up both advanced real-time imaging telescopes—which display incredible detail on a video screen—and large telescopes where you can view the heavens directly through an eyepiece. The astronomers will happily answer your questions.

At 15 minutes past each hour (at 6:15, 7:15, and 8:15 pm), a MHAA astronomer will narrate a tour of the constellations using a laser pointer. If you dark-adapt your eyes, you should be able to see the Milky Way in some detail.

Note: On a clear evening in mid-fall, temperatures will fall quickly. Dress warmly with a hat and consider carrying an extra layer just in case. Of course, you can always warm up in the farm's taproom, which will be less than 100 yards away. Return after a break, and new objects will climb into view! In case of clouds, this event will be rescheduled for Sunday, November 15.
