About this event
What do you get when you cross a Johnny Cash–style voice, a fringed leather mask, and a queer cowboy love story? Orville Peck, and he's riding into The Ritz on Saturday, November 14.

Who is this masked man? Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Orville spent 12 years in ballet, toured in musicals, studied acting in London, and drummed in punk bands before reinventing himself as country music's most mysterious cowboy. Since then he's played the Emcee in Cabaret on Broadway and made his Grand Ole Opry debut. Not your typical Nashville résumé.
That voice, though. The mask gets your attention; the voice keeps it. Critics keep reaching for the legends: W Magazine called it a "deep, calm bass-baritone" that recalls Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. One UK reviewer said it melts hearts without ever tipping into caricature. Picture a lonesome desert highway at midnight, then add a disco ball.
The sound Classic country and Americana at the core, with streaks of rockabilly, blues, dreamy shoegaze, and a dash of showtune drama. His new album Mule (out Sept. 18) is his most personal yet, an honest look at addiction, sobriety, and starting over, with guests like Emmylou Harris. Queer and country Orville is an openly gay cisgender man who sings love songs about men in a genre that hasn't always made room for them. He's one of the most visible LGBTQ+ voices in country, and his crowds show up in their best boots and pearl snaps. Everyone's welcome.
