Presentation Title: “The Comeback of the Blue-Throated Macaw”
Dorothy Paterson, President & Executive Director of Bird Endowment, will speak (BY ZOOM) in a livestream about the conservation of the Blue-throated Macaw. She will also describe ongoing research at the Laney Rickman Reserve in Bolivia on this magnificent bird. Blue-Throated Macaws are a critically endangered parrot, native exclusively to the Beni Savannas of north-central Bolivia. Only 300-500 individuals remain in the wild. Their severe decline is driven by habitat loss, the illegal pet trade, and the historic use of its feathers in traditional dances.
Join us in the Daily Planet theater inside the Museum at 1 pm. Wake Audubon will NOT be running their Zoom link, but, the museum may provide a link to watch remotely. For more information, visit https://www.naturalsciences.org/calendar/event/the-comeback-of-blue-throated-macaws/
