Book Talk: Becoming Roy Lichtenstein
Book Talk: Becoming Roy Lichtenstein
About this event
Join art historian Avis Berman, author of the forthcoming Becoming Roy Lichtenstein: The Path to Pop, as she explores Roy Lichtenstein’s journey from an obscure artist to a defining figure of American Pop art.
The Montclair Art Museum is excited to announce that Mythological Meeting, 1979, Lichtenstein’s only work held in the Museum’s collection, will be on view during Avis Berman’s book talk at MAM.
Drawing on extensive archival research and hundreds of interviews, Berman traces Lichtenstein’s early influences, his search for an artistic identity, and the breakthrough that led to Look Mickey in 1961 and the development of his iconic style. The illustrated lecture will feature works of art alongside photographs of Lichtenstein, his friends, and family.
