The Anything-Inflatable, Middle Hiwassee River, Inaugural Float Patty Bridge River Access, Delano, TN Parking Coordinates 35.2247°,-84.6463°

Be part of the first COA group to experience this 6.75 mile (2.5 to 3 hour) float down the Middle Hiwassee river. The outfitters don't service this section, so we must shuttle ourselves. With mostly deeper water, the Middle Hiwassee is more tame than the upper, but the current still flows at 2.5-3 mph. It's pleasant.

This is mainly a tubing event, but bring whatever inflatable you prefer; tube, raft, air-mattress, paddleboard, kayak. Hard kayaks are discouraged due to shuttling.

If you don't already have a tube, buy one soon. Local supplies historically dry up toward the end of summer. Suggestion: Walmart River Tube - $5, Walmart Life-Vest - $15 (State law requires life-vests in state parks. We require one for this float.) ---

We'll need a sufficient number of drivers willing to shuttle people and gear from the downstream parking area to the upstream launch ramp. After the float, "anchor" drivers will take the original drivers back to their cars at the upstream launch.

1. 1:45 PM - Meet at Patty Bridge River Access, Delano, TN Parking Coordinates 35.2247°,-84.6463°
2. 2:00 PM - Shuttle to Hiwassee Scenic River State Park Boat Ramp Coordinates 35.2334°,-84.5500°
3. 2:30 PM - Arrive at State Park Boat Ramp, inflate watercraft and hang out until the dam release hits. (~3:00 PM).

Michael may lead a primary carpool from Academy Sports/Hamilton Place. Details to follow several days before the event. ---

Recommended items: water-shoes, water-proof sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.

Consider leaving water sensitive electronics in your car or use a drybag. Electronic keys often have a mechanical entry key that can separate from the electronic fob.
